	The Solution Fastlane Entrance Control range offers a number of options to Facility and Security Managers to perfectly balance these issues. The concept behind all these options is to create a secure perimeter just inside the building to ensure only authorised people progress further in to the building, thereby creating the secure working environment required. 		Concept
		The cost effective Fastlane Classic Entrance Control range is made up of tripod turnstiles and passgates for disabled access. The architecturally inspired enclosures make minimal impact on the building design and have the flexibility of custom finished tops to help blend into the building fabric.

		Ease of Use
		The Fastlane tripods are based on a smooth reliable mechanism which is available in either motorised or non-motorised version. The mechanism is self-centring to make sure that the unit returns smoothly to its home position and the electronic braking system is designed to ensure the unit does not lock up on users and therefore maintains consistent high throughput rates. The motorised version speeds up throughput while further facilitating the use of the tripod turnstile.

		Flexible and Safe
		Attractive motorised glass panelled passgates, designed to complement the Fastlane tripod enclosures can be added to the system to create passages of up to 2 metres in width for wheelchair or trolley access. In the event of power fail the tripod turnstiles have a failsafe design to turn freely for emergency egress.

	The Security Dilemma
	In business, public services and the leisure industry there is an ever growing challenge for Facility and Security Managers to provide secure, efficient and user friendly buildings. The need is to provide employees with a safe environment to work in and to protect the assets and information within the building. Yet the entrance to a commercial facility must be aesthetically welcoming and easy for staff and visitors to use and Security to manage.

	Advanced Intelligence
	At the heart of a Fastlane system is a multi infra- red beam matrix coupled with a custom designed microprocessor using a neural network to run an opinion -forming “entity management” system. The advantage of this new system is that it ‘thinks’ in real time. When beams are broken the system analyses the speed and pattern of the beam breaks and then links associated beams breaks to entities. The result is that the system can accurately position the size, shape and speed of individual entities in the lane. By accurately positioning entities in the lane the system can accurately detect tailgaters as close together as 5 mm. The new technology allows the system to operate more safely as it forms an opinion as to whether the barriers’ can safely be closed based upon knowing where the people are in the lane, how big they are and how fast they are moving in relation to the barriers position; this reduces the chance of a collision between the users and the barriers and it has the added benefit that the barriers can close more tightly behind authorised users thereby closing the lane to unauthorised users. Another advantage of being able to track multiple entities in the lane is that the system does not have to wait for one authorised user to pass through the lane before a second authorised person can begin to be processed. This generates much faster throughput rates. Finally, if additional beam breaks occur whilst an entity is in the lane the system decides whether they are associated with existing entities in the lane or represent new ones entering the lane. This results in many fewer false activations from umbrellas, briefcases, coats etc.

	Reliability
	The Fastlane Entrance Control range has been designed with easy installation and low maintenance in mind. Fastlane can be integrated into any existing access control or building management system and can be used in conjunction with most card and biometric readers. Fastlane’s proven track record of over 1500 systems installed across 5 continents has been built up over a period of more than 10 years.
